Mike Clancy

Mike Clancy was born in High Wycombe (UK) in 1984 an has lived in Newcastle, London and Barcelona. He currently lives in Buckinghamshire, UK where he has a workshop and studio.

Mike has been drawing, painting and making since his childhood. He has experimented with figurative, abstract and conceptual work in a variety of media, including sculpture and video. Mike diverged from art practice to study architecture culminating in a qualification as a RIBA registed architect in 2012 working for world renowned Hopkins Architects and Lynch Architects. After a 5 year career in construction as a site-manager then project-manager and a flat remodelling (Oakley Road) to his own designs, he returned to art studying at the Barceloan Academy of Art. There he developed his understanding of classical sculptural techniques and theory. He further experimented with conceptual figurative work with A Passage of Time; a wax figurative sculpture that is melted then enlarged and proposed as a concrete sculpture. His current work in metal seeks to bridge the gap between art and architecture experimenting with space, experience and scalability.
